It’s 50° out, and it’s snowing. Or hailing. Or something.
And windy, of course.

The Tea on the Porch Index consists of 2 measures:
1: how much clothing &
2: how much tea!
Index Levels:
1: can be as bare as I please, as long as I please, drinking as much tea as I please; visitors beware! Hot tea, iced tea, any kind of tea!
2: need long sleeves and then can stay out as long as I like; this is probably down to the mid-40s if there’s no breeze. Lots of tea helps!
3: need the sleeves but can only stay out 10-15 minutes; low 40s, or low 50s if there are New Mexico breezes. Alternatively, adding hat/socks let’s me stay out as long as I like. One big mug of tea, lovely tea!
4: need sleeves and hat &/or socks to stay out 10-15 minutes. This is probably in the mid-30s with no breeze; or in the low 40s with NM breezes. And another big mug of tea!
5: better add another layer on top — it’s getting brisk out here! (Say, lower 30s, no breezes.) Be sure to pre-heat tea mug, so it stays hot longer.
6: hat, polar fleece, socks are all necessary. But I can stay a fair amount of time if I wear them. This would be our beautiful 20s and sunny winter days, no breeze. Good hot tea is necessary!
7: all of the above but not staying more than 5-10 minutes. This would be the winter day with a breeze or dankness added. Need tea!
8: all of the above plus scarf, extra jacket. I can stay out as long as my tea mug is hot, warming up my hands. Now we’re talking teens and lower. (Note: tea mug will not stay warm as long as I’d like.)
9: everything I own plus just a minute or two on the porch. Single digits & below; with breezes too. Drink tea rather quickly.
10: everything I own, step outside, take a sip of tea, scurry back in. This would be below zero. It has happened!
11: everything I own, open door, wave outside, close door, shiver. This is 25 below weather, and that has been documented. Alas.
12: uhh—snow everywhere. Maybe no tea outside today.
